Zofia Burak, 84, of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nasutów, Poland, Zofia immigrated to the United States at the age of 24 to begin a new chapter of her life. She devoted 42 years of dedicated service as a laundry supervisor at Raritan Bay Medical Center.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Zofia found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for gardening brought her immense happiness, and she could often be found tending to her vibrant garden, which reflected her nurturing spirit.
Zofia was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Saint John Paul II Parish at St. Stephen’s Church, where she actively participated in the Rosary Society and other church activities. She was also a proud member of the Z.P.A., cherishing and upholding her Polish heritage and customs. Known for her warm, friendly demeanor and ever-present smile, Zofia left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Zofia was predeceased by her beloved parents, Bolesław Skrzypczak and Franciszka Maciejewska, and her cherished husband, Józef Burak.
She is survived by her two children: Andrew Burak and Helina Garcia, along with her husband Luis Garcia. Zofia’s legacy lives on through her three grandchildren: Jennifer Garcia and her partner Ryan Carlson, Anthony Garcia and his wife Stacey, and Brian Garcia and his wife Domenique. She was also the proud great-grandmother of five: Toby Timko, Gabriel Timko, Gianna Garcia, Zoey Soto, and Mason Garcia.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Stephen’s Church. Zofia will be laid to rest at Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA.
Zofia’s unwavering faith, kind heart, and love for her family and heritage will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
