Sylvia Nelida Vera Arocho, 73, of East Brunswick, was called home on August 23rd, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home in East Brunswick, NJ.
Sylvia was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She moved from Puerto Rico to the United States at the age of 17 and forged a life for her four children and herself. She worked in the downtown area for 30 years, making her a pillar in her community of Perth Amboy and was a ferociously devout warrior and true believer in God as a proud member of the Rios de Agua Viva Church on Hall Avenue. She spent many years teaching future pastors of the Pentecostal religion, a duty she was very proud of.
She is predeceased by her parents, Victor Arocho and Isabel Guzman.
Sylvia is survived by her 4 children, Claribel and her husband Harold Crudup, Hiram Vera and his wife, Cynthia, Jose, and Javier and his wife Jennifer, 9 grandchildren: Joshua, Christian, Anthony, Tatiana, Matthew, Elijah, Charlotte, Willow & Leo, and one great-grand child, Sara.
Vigil services will be at held at Bethel Christian Church, 185 Hall Ave, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861 on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Service to follow immediately from 7:00-8:00.
Funeral services will be at 9 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the church. Burial will take place in Alpine Cemetery.
