Rosemary Oarsley, 74, of Perth Amboy, passed away on April 1st, 2024, at Spring Creek Healthcare Center in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Born on August 6th, 1949, she remained a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy, where she attended public school and parochial school through high school. Prior to retiring in 2017, she was the Director of Behavioral Health Services at Raritan Bay Medical Center, where she oversaw the operation of two inpatient psychiatric units, an emergency department unit, an emergency department crisis unit, and addiction treatment services.
Currently, Rosemary was the Vice Chairwoman of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA. She joined the YMCA Board in April 2019, serving for several years as the Board Secretary and 3 years as Vice Chair. She was a passionate voice guiding the development of mental health services as well as a leader of the Ending Homelessness Dinner Committee.
Rosemary was a very active member with her parish, Saint John Paul II, member of the Altar Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister/Lector, and Parish Council.
She was an active member of The Board of Directors of Perth Amboy Catholic School.
She was the past President, Secretary, Lieutenant Governor, and Past New Jersey District of Kiwanis International from 2017-2018.
In 2017, Rosemary received the Governor’s Volunteer of the Year Award. She also received the Civic Leader of the Year Award from the Perth Amboy Chamber of Commerce.
She was the chairperson of Perth Amboy Municipal Alliance. Rosemary received the Cary Edwards Volunteer of the Year Award at the Governor’s Council of Alcohol and Drugs for Middlesex County and the State.
She will be missed by all who know her.
Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Gregory Oarsley and Mary Skirm.
She is survived by her goddaughter, Jennifer Haborak Gold, and her husband Doug Gold and their children, Josh and Abby, and many close friends.
Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM mass at Saint John Paul II Parish at St. Stephen’s Church.
The burial will take place at Saint Gertrude's Cemetery and Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave., Colonia, NJ.
