Raimundo Braulio Polanco Soler, 87, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 22, 2026.
Raimundo was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. In the 1990s, he immigrated to the United States in search of a better future for his family. He worked for many years in the maintenance department at Pathmark, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Above all, Raimundo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in being a loving and caring presence for his children and grandchildren. To them, he was not only a father but also their hero and guardian angel. He taught his children the importance of prayer, faith in God, and the value of keeping family close. He also shared with them his love for playing dominoes, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Raimundo was humble, kind-hearted, and understanding. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a true "hombre del buen diente"—a man who enjoyed all kinds of good food. He loved gathering with family and friends, spending hours playing domino tournaments, listening to music, dancing, and celebrating life. Among his favorite artists were Pedro Infante, Vicente Fernández, and Jorge Negrete, whose songs brought him great joy throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertilia Reyes; his parents, Braulio Polanco and Bernalda Patria Soler.
He is lovingly survived by his four children: Leyda E. Polanco, Lillian Polanco, Lucenia Arias, and Lady Diaz; his nine grandchildren: Genesis M. Fernandez, Lorena Y. Arias, Lillibeth Diaz, Raquel Arias, Samantha Fernandez, Ariela Arias, Felix A. Diaz, Braulio Fernandez, and Aileen Arias; and his four great-grandchildren: Ivany B. Tavarez, Melody S. Morales, Lorenzo E. Harriott, and Nevael A. Diaz. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Alpine Cemetery.
Though he will be deeply missed, Raimundo's love, faith, wisdom, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
