Lila Saldana

Lila Saldaña, 93, of South Amboy, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at JFK Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cajamarca, Peru, Lila came to the United States 33 years ago, where she built a life centered on family, love, and tradition. She was deeply devoted to her family and found great joy in caring for them. Lila especially loved cooking and was known for preparing cherished Peruvian desserts such as arroz con leche and humitas, which brought comfort and happiness to those around her.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her loved ones.

Lila was predeceased by her parents, Asunción Saldaña and Leonor Sempertegui, and her beloved daughter, Maria M. Machuca.

She is survived by her five children: Miguel E. Campos and his wife Aide, Luis A. Campos, Marcos A. Campos, Celso Vasquez, and her son-in-law Ermin Machuca. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ.

Lila will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, family, and tradition will live on forever.

Lila Saldaña, de 93 años, residente de South Amboy, falleció en paz el 23 de abril de 2026 en el JFK Medical Center, rodeada de su querida familia.

Nacida en Cajamarca, Perú, Lila emigró a los Estados Unidos hace 33 años, donde formó una vida basada en el amor, la familia y las tradiciones. Fue una mujer profundamente dedicada a los suyos y encontraba gran alegría en cuidarlos. Disfrutaba especialmente cocinar, siendo reconocida por preparar deliciosos postres peruanos como arroz con leche y humitas, los cuales compartía con mucho cariño.

Fue una madre, abuela, bisabuela, tatarabuela, tía, hermana y amiga ejemplar. Su calidez, bondad y dedicación permanecerán en el recuerdo de todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. También disfrutaba ir de compras y compartir momentos con su familia.

Lila fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, Asunción Saldaña y Leonor Sempertegui, y por su querida hija, María M. Machuca.

Le sobreviven sus cinco hijos: Miguel E. Campos y su esposa Aide, Luis A. Campos, Marcos A. Campos y Celso Vásquez; así como su yerno, Ermin Machuca. También deja 19 nietos, 24 bisnietos y 4 tataranietos, quienes atesorarán su memoria por siempre.

Las horas de velación serán el domingo 26 de abril de 4:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. en Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, ubicado en 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ.

Los servicios fúnebres se llevarán a cabo el lunes 27 de abril de 2026 a las 9:30 a.m. en la funeraria.

El sepelio tendrá lugar en Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, en Woodbridge, NJ.

Lila será profundamente extrañada, pero su legado de amor, unión familiar y tradiciones vivirá para siempre en nuestros corazones.
