Leonora Leonardo, 57, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 11, 2026, at her residence.
She was born in the Dominican Republic, in the city of La Vega, within the community of La Estancia. She grew up alongside her parents and siblings, who always protected her because of her great humility and noble heart.
Leonora Leonardo, lovingly known as “Liona,” was a woman of deep faith, a generous heart, and a spirit of service. Her life was marked by unconditional love for her family, dedication to her community, and constant devotion to God.
From a very young age, she demonstrated a special sensitivity toward others, often choosing to suffer in silence rather than see others in need.
At the age of 18, she was married in the Church to her husband, Pedro Paulino, forming a home founded on love, respect, and faith. From this union, two daughters were born: Rosalba Guerrero, the eldest, and Leonela Paulino de Tavares, the youngest, whom she cared for with special tenderness due to her special condition. Leonora often expressed to Rosalba her wish that, should she ever depart from this world, she would care for her beloved Leonela.
She frequently told her daughter Rosalba to be strong if she were to leave this world, reminding her that as the eldest daughter she was the trunk of the family, and that if she were to fall, everyone would suffer. These words reflected her wisdom, her faith, and her deep sense of family responsibility.
Leonora was an exemplary mother and a loyal friend. Her sweetness, her contagious smile, and her loving words made even children love her deeply. Her favorite phrases were always, “I love you with the love of God” and “Blessed to be a blessing.”
She loved reading the Bible and the books of the saints, preaching the Word of God, and singing praises to the Lord. She constantly encouraged others to seek God, reject sin, and trust fully in Him at all times.
She lived for many years in the community of Jimayaco Arriba, where she became a spiritual and human pillar. She dedicated her life to helping the sick and all those in need, praying day and night for those going through difficulties. Moved by her faith and vision, Leonora was the one who inspired and encouraged César Valdez, who took on the commitment to carry out all the efforts and initiatives necessary for the construction of the Jimayaco Arriba church, leaving behind a spiritual legacy that will continue to bless the community.
She later lived in the United States, first residing in Tennessee with her daughter Rosalba, her family, and her husband Pedro Paulino, and later in Pennsylvania, where she spent the final year of her life.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren: Jandy, Adelin, Liam, David, and Mathias, who were her greatest joy and reason for living.
Leonora Leonardo leaves behind an indelible legacy of faith, love, sacrifice, and peace. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of all who loved her and were blessed by her life.
