Juana M. Luis de Duran, 77, of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at JFK Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Moca, Dominican Republic, Juana was a devoted member of the Catholic faith. She was a communicant of Saint John Paul II Parish and an active member of the Legion of Mary. She also served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister. Her deep commitment to her church was central to her life, and she instilled that same devotion in her children and grandchildren, teaching them that their Catholic faith was the foundation of a meaningful life.
Juana was a woman of strong principles, discipline, and dedication. She lovingly raised her children with a sense of purpose, always encouraging them to strive for success and build a better future. A nurturing matriarch, she made her home a welcoming place, always ensuring there was a warm meal for anyone who walked through the door. In her quiet moments, she found joy and peace in caring for her plants and flowers.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Concepcion Duran Santana, and her parents, Jose Alejandro Luis and Maria Jacoba Corcino.
Juana is survived by her cherished children: Nicolas Antonio and his girlfriend Alexandra Peña, Jose, Alfonso and his wife Glennys, Digna del Carmen and her husband Mauricio Cruz, Lucia and her husband Roberto Nuñez, Ramona and her husband Jacinto Rosario, Yudelka, Miriam Rosita and her husband Galahad Curry, Maria and her husband Ramon Batista, Ercilia and her husband Miguel Guzman, Juan and his wife Candida Dominguez and Amalia and her husband Felix Rosario.. She also leaves behind 38 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry her legacy of faith, love, and strength.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 8:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 AM at Saint John Paul II Parish at St. Stephen’s Church. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery.
