Juana Hernandez

Juana Hernandez, 85, of Perth Amboy, passed away on September 27, 2025, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Juana immigrated to the United States in 1989. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and remained dedicated to her faith and prayers throughout her life.

Juana was a hardworking woman who lived for her family. She was a source of guidance and strength to the younger generations, and to many of them she was like a second mother. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, which brought joy to her and those around her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Felix Romano and Maria de la Cruz Hernandez, and by her sons-in-law, Ramon Almonte and Omar Castro.

She is survived by her children: Pantaleon Cepeda, Rene Cepeda, Irma Altagracia Cepeda, America del Pilar Cepeda, Francia Luz Cepeda de Almonte, and Jose de el Carmen Cepeda and his wife Celenia.

Her grandchildren include: Rony Cepeda and his wife Marie Cepeda Mekosh, Arisleyda Cepeda, Devin Alvarez, Jesus Taveras, Johanna D. Cepeda and her husband Anthony Abreu, Jade Abreu, Johan Abreu, Ariel Castro and his wife Angela Castro, Irmaria Canela and her husband Lysandro Canela, Destinee N. Rambajan, Jerry Rodriguez Jr., Ava Leigh Canela, Ethan Ryan Canela, Maria M. Garcia Cepeda, Cruzmarie De Jesus, Mariah Duverge, Aaron Duverge, Jennifer Garcia Cepeda, Christopher Nieves, Edwin De Jesus, Khris Jariel, Nalisbeth, Aaliyah, Elizabeth Garcia, Scarlet Sarai Quinones, Junior Fernandez, Luis M. Garcia, David Jacob Garcia, Minerva Martínez, Joshua Martínez, Janais Martínez, Armando Jason Martínez, Jonathan Martínez, Jessaline Martínez, Alexandra Almonte, Yosephin Tavarez, Yoel Tavarez, Ramon Almonte, Romy Almonte, Carlos Almonte, Juan Almonte, Anthony Almonte, Kisbel Almonte, Jose Almonte, Chris Haynee Almonte, Josbely Almonte, Bethany Almonte, Alondra Cepeda, Jassiel Jose Cepeda, Jalvyn Jassiel Cepeda, and Rodney Cepeda.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery.
