James Richardson, 76, of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksmanship Badge – Rifle. After his military service, he worked as a welder for the Frigidaire Company in Edison, New Jersey.
James was a dedicated community member, best known as the beloved “Super Coach” of the Red Raiders baseball and football leagues, where he mentored and inspired young athletes for many years. He was also an exceptional bowler, skilled fisherman, and poker enthusiast. Above all, James was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones first. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ray Yates and Clara Hall.
James is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Michele (Fratello) Richardson; his children, James Richardson Jr., Savannah Richardson, Marcella Richardson, and Stephen Richardson; and his cherished grandchildren, Dante Richardson and Legend Richardson.
A memorial gathering and service will be held on Friday, July 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 688 Donald Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ. Cremation will be private.
James’s legacy of love, strength, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
