Felix C. "Papi" Martinez

Felix C “Papi” Martinez, of Perth Amboy, passed away on September 20th, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ, at the age of 82.

Born in Lima, Peru, Felix was known for his love of sport and soccer, which led him to signing for Club Sporting Cristal, in the Peruvian Primera Division, where he would make his debut in the 1960/61 season. He would eventually go on to win the national title with Sporting Cristal in 1961.

After his career in soccer, he went on to work in the funeral services trade, and was known as a hard worker. Felix would eventually immigrate to the United States in 2003, changing his work to the warehousing industry.

Felix is predeceased by his parents, Felix Martinez Barreto and Maria Luz Lobaton. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Arica, his sons, Felix, Roberto, Jose, and Alexis Martinez, his sister, Maria Elena, his 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children.

Visitation will be Friday, September 22nd, 2023, from 6 PM to 9 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
