Ernesto Julio Hidalgo Berroa, 82, of Woodbridge, New Jersey, passed away on May 24, 2025, at his residence. Born in Alto Mayor del Rey, Dominican Republic, Ernesto dedicated a significant portion of his life to agriculture, nurturing the land with care and devotion. He later served his community as a driver for public transportation, ensuring that countless individuals reached their destinations safely.
A man of joy and laughter, Ernesto found happiness in music and dance, always ready to lift spirits with his infectious humor and heartfelt storytelling. Ernesto’s presence will be deeply missed, but his kindness, joy, and love will live on in the hearts of all who know him.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ramon Hidalgo and Simeona Berroa. He is survived by his wife Milagros A. Rivera, his six children: Hector Hidalgo and his wife, Maria Virginia; Carlos Hidalgo; Julio Hidalgo; Manuel Hidalgo; Emmy Hidalgo and her husband, Rokeny Castillo; and Carmen Hidalgo. He also leaves behind his eleven cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom will continue to carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, located at 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Burial will take place in the Dominican Republic, where he will be laid to rest in his homeland.
