Dolores Payano, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, at the age of 87.
Born on December 7, 1936, in Sánchez, Sámana, Dominican Republic, Dolores was a devoted Catholic. Known for her friendly nature and love of dancing, she brought joy and laughter to everyone around her.
She was known for her unwavering love for her family and her warm, welcoming spirit. She loved Dolores dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Dolores is predeceased by her parents, Andres Castillo and Carmela Calcano; her husband, Erotides Castillo and one son, Santiago Castillo.
She is survived by her six remaining children; Nicolas Castillo, Erotides Castillo, Angela Abramson, Petronila Castillo, Cecilia Castillo, and Bethania Castillo. Her 25 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of kindness and strength. A good mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, her influence will be felt for generations to come.
A wake will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 5 PM to 9 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State St., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 7, at 9 AM, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Stephen's Church. She will be laid to rest at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Keasbey.
Dolores Payano will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her warmth, love, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
