Casimira (Carol) Brasunas (nee Szczech), 95, passed away in her sleep on March 31, 2020 at CareOne in Hanover Township.
She was born in 1924 in Derby, Connecticut, and lived in Elizabeth from early childhood until 2014 when she moved to St. Joseph's Assisted Living in Woodbridge. After attending school in Elizabeth, she worked at General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division in Linden during World War II, helping to produce the Wildcat fighter plane for Grumman. Afterwards she worked at Singer Manufacturing Company until marrying in 1951. She was a devoted viewer of the 1960's television series, The Avengers, appreciative of the strong role played by a woman. She was also a champion shuffleboard player at Sugar Maples in the Catskills.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Charles Brasunas Sr. in 2006.
Surviving are sons John Jr. and Alan, grandchildren Madeline and John III, sisters Dorothy and Eleanor, and Brothers Joseph and Albert.
Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, 1-3 St. Joseph Terrace, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
A future memorial service is planned.
