Agustin Santiago Nuñez Peña

Agustin Santiago Peña Nuñez, of Perth Amboy, passed away on July 30th, 2023, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, NJ, at the age of 90.

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, he worked in agriculture before moving to New Jersey in 1984. Agustin was a member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish – La Asuncion Church, but he frequented many churches in the Perth Amboy area.

He was known for his friendliness and his good humor, and his love for taking walks all around the area. Agustin was easy to have a conversation with and was well known for his love of music. He could often be seen tending to his garden or keeping up with the recent news.

Agustin is predeceased by his parents, Agustin Nuñez and Agustina Peña, his wife, Maria Nereida Tavera, his sons Javier, Humberto, and Daniel Nuñez, and his daughter Gladys Rosario.

He is survived by his sons Mingo, Jose Alfonso, Jose Rafael, and Martin Nuñez, his daughters, Maraceli Diaz, Olga Peña, Ramonita Nuñez, and Luz Abreu, his 26 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ana Maria Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals, 467 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4th, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM mass at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish – La Asuncion Church.

Burial will take place in Alpine Cemetery.
